Second announcement for the 15th Annual SSCIP Conference (2023) from Conference Organiser Dra. Rocío García Mancuso
We are pleased to communicate important information about the next Annual Congress of the Society for the Study of Childhood in the Past (SSCIP) to be held in La Plata on October 18-20, 2023.
The theme of the Conference: “Voices of time: concepts and perspectives that recover the childhoods of the past” invites us to think about the role of children and adolescents in different times and places.
Some of the suggested topics are:
- Living conditions of children in ancient populations
- How do we explore the presence of children in archaeological contexts?
- Treatment of children in funerary contexts
- Differential treatments by gender, age or abilities in ancient populations.
- How the voices of children from the past contribute to collective memory
- Children’s care, education and health in the recent and ancient past
- Children’s participation in production or work contexts

Difundimos información relevante sobre el próximo Congreso Anual de la Sociedad para el Estudio de la Infancia en el Pasado (Society for the Study of Childhood in the Past – SSCIP) se realizará en La Plata entre los días 18 al 20 de octubre de 2023.
En esta oportunidad el tema del evento: “Voces del tiempo: conceptos y perspectivas que recuperan las infancias del pasado”, nos propone pensar la participación de los niños, niñas y adolescentes en diferentes momentos y lugares.
Algunos de los temas sugeridos son:
- Condiciones de vida de niños en poblaciones antiguas
- ¿Cómo exploramos la presencia de niños/as en contextos arqueológicos?
- Tratamiento de niños/as en contextos funerarios
- Tratamientos diferenciales por género, edad o habilidades en poblaciones antiguas
- Como las voces de los niños de ayer contribuyen a la memoria colectiva
- El cuidado, la educación y la salud de los/as niños/as en el pasado reciente y antiguo
- Participación de los niños/as en contextos de producción o trabajo
